Big Birthday Bash for Bobby’s Big Birthday!

A big weekend indeed… In some ways, three birthdays were celebrated. Allow me to elaborate.

On Friday Tulip, MW, Fatleg and Blade set off for the Santa Cruz Chameleon’s first dirt ride since its completion this week. And yes, if you are wondering, this bike took 1 full year to become realized. Think of it as a year of gestation. After 365 days, a bike fell out of Blade’s butt. Seriously, think about it. It is entirely possible.

On Saturday, the full posse celebrated the birthday of Funchp (also known as Bobby). It was a frenzy of alliterations. There was beer (Blue Moon and BerryWeiss), burgers, bratwursts, beans, brocoli, bell peppers, baba ghanoush and birthday cake.  Not to forget the recent birth of Jenny and Tulip’s little bundle of joy, Tulip brought him to the party. Sunday closed up the fine weekend with two different rides. Tulip and MW headed to Quanitco in the hopes of finding long miles in preparation for the SM100, which is only weeks away. From the look on MW’s face when she got home, I don’t think she will be going back there. And I likely won’t be seeing the trails there anytime soon.

I headed off to Schaeffer Farms for a quick spin and ran into Ikon O. Klasst. Who is this Ikon? Well, you may know him as factory team rider for the Single Speed Outlaws. Or perhaps you know him from his brillantly planned “Bootlegger’s Bliss“. But if you are still unfamilar with his work, get to know him by reading one of the best written bike-centric blogs on the planet, Wrench In The Gears.

We chatted for sometime about the first year’s “bliss”, commuting, riding a fixie, and all the really nice SSO’ers we have met over the years. It was a very pleasant chance encounter…

So that is all the news from Lake Potomagon. Expect a healthier supply of Posse logs over this next week. Dammit, I feel inspired.
