Okay…so that sucked.
Well… not really. But it certainly was not a stellar ride. One minute and 35 seconds into the ride and I was face down in the ground. Such is life on the trail.
Today it was just Nicky and me out at Schaeffer Farms. It was really a stupid wipe. I was trying to clear a log pile that I have a couple times before but I just didn’t commit to it this time. From that point forward, I was really kind of ”off my game”. Stupid mistakes from there on out and they took a toll on my body. Before we were half way out on our planned adventure, I had a mechanical with my rear derailleur that has been plaguing me for weeks. Chain had yet again jumped from the cassette wedging itself in the spokes. Ah, it is so nice to have an ex-wrench on the trail. Nicky got me going again and actually, the deraileur was better from there on out.
While my bike was better, my body was not. Some days you have it. Others you don’t. Today, I didn’t. I could start to feel my body weaken and I knew I was on a limited budget of energy. A bit of a mystery to me how it all works out. Perhaps diet, or could it be sleep? I personally think it is voodoo/black magic. And that would make sense. I forgot to eat my tail of dragon and drink the blood of a virgin before riding. I did remember to use my inhaler though. Hmmm.
